We are Novella. We tell stories - through films and photographs - and work alongside artists, galleries, interior designers and furniture makers to create considered content, crafted together in an honest way.
A novella is a short, structured story. That’s what we’re doing: telling stories of real people in a carefully considered way.
Novella was founded in 2022 by Georgia Buchanan, a filmmaker and photographer. She started creating content in 2018 (as Georgia Rothman Productions) and since then, has endeavoured to make thoughtful, beautiful videos, with creative subjects being the thread that links them all.
Novella now consists of a team of competent freelancers led by Georgia and together, we do all the directing, filming and editing to create considered content for our clients.
From the beginning, we work closely with our clients, developing a thorough understanding of their needs.
On the shoot day we take time with them - we understand that talking to a camera isn’t the easiest even for the most natural of speakers, so we film as many takes as are needed, resulting in honest, genuine content.
During filming, every shot is carefully considered. We are a small team; artists’ studios, workshops and galleries are often very personal and we like to maintain a certain level of intimacy to our stories.
In the edit, subtlety is key. We slowly weave together a story, continuously bearing that naturalness in mind, making content which we feel will make our clients happy enough to come back for more.
